Why I am walking

This year will be my third time taking part in the Christopher’s Hospice Fun Walk, and it’s something that has come to mean more to me every year I do it.

What started as just signing up for something a bit different has turned into something I genuinely look forward to. The walk itself is such a good day  it’s fun, relaxed, and full of really positive energy. There’s something about being surrounded by so many people, all there for the same reason, that creates such a strong sense of community. It’s one of those events where you just feel good being there.

A big part of why I keep coming back is because of the work St Christopher’s Hospice does. They provide such important care, not just for patients but for families as well, and they do it with real compassion and dignity. It’s the kind of support that makes a huge difference during some of the hardest times in people’s lives.

This cause is also personal to me. Both of my great grandparents were cared for by St Christopher’s, and knowing the level of care and kindness they received makes taking part in this feel even more meaningful. It’s a small way of giving something back and supporting a place that helped my family.

So here I am again, year three. Same walk, same great atmosphere, but an even deeper reason to be part of it.

Fun Walk is St Christopher's biggest fundraising event of the year. 

2025's event was attended by over 2500 walkers and raised over a whopping £220,000! 

With live music, entertainment, street food and vintage shopping, come join the festival feeling on Keston Common on 10th May 2026!

We'll be there, walking for our local hospice. Sponsor us and help to provide expert end of life care to people in South London.
