St Christopher’s Hospice exists to promote and provide skilled and compassionate palliative care of the highest quality.

Their vision is of a world in which all dying people and those close to them have access to appropriate care and support, when they need it, wherever they need it and whoever they are.

They rely on the generosity of their community, through fundraising campaigns like this, to continue providing our specialist palliative care and familiy care services free of charge.

My Updates

We made it

Monday 15th Sep

Four Muscateers

Monday 15th Sep

Day 4- The afternoon is quickly passing and we soon approach Versailles.

Monday 15th Sep
The gathering point before Versailles is Noisy-Le-Roy which just happens to be holding its annual beer festival as we arrive.
Fortified, we continue on to the Palace of Versailles for a champagne celebration.

Day 4- Vernon to Versailles 60 miles

Monday 15th Sep
Most of the morning we are cycling through the Parc naturel regional du Vexin Français with lunch at Le Neubourg. The old railway-line has become a dedicated cycle route ( rather like the Downslink at Guilford ) and the weather has improved dramatically.

Open roads

Monday 15th Sep

Day 3 -Lisieux to Vernon 70 miles

Monday 15th Sep
Gary being kept in hospital at Dieppe.
Andy, Anthony, Michael and myself head off set off in perfect weather and soon encounter the wide open vista of the French countryside.

Arriving Lisieux at Sunset

Monday 15th Sep

Day 2- Dieppe to Lisieux 88 miles

Monday 15th Sep
Disaster!
Gary rushed to hospital…with blood sugars hitting 33.
Andy, Anthony and myself head off and reach the lunch stop north-west of Rouen. As soon as we set off the heavens open and we seek temporary refuge under the canopy of nearby trees. We are joined by Michael, another Brixton Boy and make a dash for it as the rain continues.

Starting from St Christopher’s we soon pedalled passed Crystal Palace football stadium where our dear friend Walter Samuel spent many a Saturday afternoon cheering on his beloved Eagles.

Thursday 11th Sep

And they’re off!

Thursday 11th Sep
Day one saw our intrepid riders dealing with the most horrendous downpour- we should have swapped the bikes for pedalos .
