Why I'm supporting St Christopher's
St Christopher’s Hospice exists to promote and provide skilled and compassionate palliative care of the highest quality.
Their vision is of a world in which all dying people and those close to them have access to appropriate care and support, when they need it, wherever they need it and whoever they are.
They rely on the generosity of their community, through fundraising campaigns like this, to continue providing specialist palliative care and family care services free of charge.
St Christopher’s hospice offer world class palliative and end of life care to those living in South London. In addition to their hospice and outreach/overseas training and teaching programmes, they provide community support to over 7500 people. My wonderful mum and dad were two of those people they supported, and I will be eternally grateful to them for the care and support they gave Mum, Dad, Claire and I.
It felt only right to give something back to this amazing organisation and help raise some much-needed funds. What better way than to challenge myself and do something truly out of my comfort zone! This will certainly be that - with a requirement for high level fitness, a rigorous preparation training regime, travelling with strangers, not to mention the lack of washing & toilet facilities and the scorpions! Nevertheless, I’m excited to embark on this challenge and looking forward to having some time to quietly reflect and remember my amazing mum and dad on my way.
Thank you for your support.

What you’re about to do is just incredible. Taking on the Sahara is no small thing—the heat, the distance, the sheer challenge of it—and yet it doesn’t surprise me at all that you’re doing it. That’s just who you are: strong, determined, and always thinking about others. I’m so proud of you, not just for the physical challenge, but for the reason behind it. Supporting St Christopher’s Hospice means you’re helping bring comfort and dignity to people at the hardest times in their lives - unfortunately something we have had first hand experience of with our lovely mum & dad. This says everything about your heart. They will be so proud of you. No matter how tough it gets remember you’ve got all of us behind you, cheering you on every step of the way. I’ll be thinking of you constantly (and probably worrying a bit too), but mostly just feeling so proud to call you my sister. Go smash it—you’ve got this 💛
