Ian is walking for St Christopher's

I'm fundraising for...

Fun Walk is St Christopher's biggest fundraising event of the year.

2024's event was attended by over 2000 walkers and raised over a whopping £206,000!

With live music, entertainment, street food and vintage shopping, come join the festival feeling on Keston Common on 11th May 2025!

I'll be there, walking for my local hospice. Sponsor me and help to provide expert end of life care to people in South London.

Thank you.

We did it!

Monday 12th May
Yes, we did it, completed the 8 mile circuit, the longest walk I've done since having my knees fixed, and they didn't complain once.  What a wonderful day - wall to wall sunshine, great organisation and a lovely walk over rolling hills, through shady woods, very enjoyable.  Lots of people turned out to guide us and there was a great party atmosphere on the common at the end of the walk. All in all a great day.
Thanks to everyone for your support.

Fundraising goal

Saturday 26th Apr
I'm not sure why I put £200 - should have been £2000 or at least somewhere in between.  Let's just see how much we can contribute
thanks

Why are we doing this?

Saturday 26th Apr
I have been a trustee at St Christopher's for 8 years.  I continue to be impressed by the work the hospice does and the ever-increasing number of people it cares for who have a life-limiting illness.  The staff are amazingly dedicated and always wanting to do better.  One of my interests has been helping the hospice use research as a tool to learn how to improve care.  Currently there is also a lot of work going on to try and reach those sectors of society that don't traditionally seek out hospice support.  The hospice has an in-patient unit, essential to offer specialist symptom control when this can't be achieved in the community.  The wards are currently being refurbished to bring them up to date.  However, the majority of the care is delivered in the community.
I have pledged to do the 8 mile circuit, together with my wife Gill and friends Charlie & Jane. That doesn't sound very far, perhaps, but it will be the longest I've walked since having both hips and both knees replaced over the last 5 years.  Gill and the others are seasoned long distance walkers so it will be good to have their company.
Thanks for your support
