Nathan and Lucy are trekking the Sahara for St Christopher's

Trekking across ancient dried up river beds, sand dunes and vast sun-baked plains...

In November 2026, we're venutring into the heart of the Sahara on an unforgettable trek across golden dunes and diverse desert terrain. The trip includes two full days and two half days of trekking in intense heat and camping under the stars each night.

It will be a difficult but incredible challenge all for a good cause.

First training walk DONE!

On Sunday 22nd March, Nathan and I set off on our first training walk for the Sahara Trek. We went to Ranmore West in the North Downs and walked 8.48km. It was a beautiful day for it and, naturally, the route took us past a lovely country pub, so we stopped for a pint. Can't wait to get more miles in to prepare for the big desert trek!

Why we're supporting St Christopher's

I (Lucy) work at St Christopher's hospice in the fundraising team. I support fundraisers to run marathons, cycle crazy distances, jump out of planes and climb mountains all from the comfort of my desk. But this year, I am practicing what I preach and taking on a challenge myself.

Nathan is an actor and is often bouncing around the country doing various jobs and working his socks off. In his spare time, Nathan runs half marathons and completed his first marathon in 2025.

So when I mentioned the Sahara trek as the hospice's big fundraising adventure for 2026, Nathan jumped on the opportunity to do something amazing.

Both of us didn't know what a hospice did before I worked here. Now, I couldn't imagine a better place to spend the end of my life. As British people, we don't like talking about death, dying and loss, but St Christopher's helps us to better understand it and provides such beautiful care and support during the most difficult time of someone's life. It is a vital service.

But, unfortunately, the hospice only recieves a third of its funding from the NHS. It's my job to help raise the £19.4million needed to keep their services running.

So, please give what you can and help us trek the Sahara to make a difference.

St Christopher’s Hospice exists to promote and provide skilled and compassionate palliative care of the highest quality.

Their vision is of a world in which all dying people and those close to them have access to appropriate care and support, when they need it, wherever they need it and whoever they are.

They rely on the generosity of their community, through fundraising campaigns like this, to continue providing our specialist palliative care and familiy care services free of charge.

Thank you for your support.
