Team Ingrey are trekking the Sahara for St Christopher's

Trekking across ancient dried up river beds, sand dunes and vast sun-baked plains...

In November 2026, we're venutring into the heart of the Sahara on an unforgettable trek across golden dunes and diverse desert terrain. The trip includes two full days and two half days of trekking in intense heat and camping under the stars each night.

It will be a difficult but incredible challenge all for a good cause.

We’re supporting St Christopher’s Hospice in memory of my late wife (and Alex’s mum) Angela Ingrey.

The compassion and care that Angela received from St Christopher’s in her final weeks was simply outstanding. Not only did they know what Angela needed in order to cope with the inevitable, but they understood what her family needed too.

St Christophers became like an additional emergency service. They were there 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and were our lifeline. No call went unanswered and every promise of support was fulfilled.  They made the unbearable, that bit more bearable for us.

At some point in everyone’s life they will likely need assistance from a hospice either for themselves or a loved one close to them. As well as palliative support for the individual in their final days, they recognise and support the wider family. However, this wonderful work has to be paid for and as a registered charity the bulk of their funding comes from donations. They desperately need our support and rely on the compassion and fundraising of their local communities.

This is why we will be undertaking a 50km Sahara Desert Trek for St Christopher’s. The work St Christopher’s do is incredible and every step taken by us will be a token of our gratefulness for everything St Christopher’s did for Angela.

However, it will be a challenge. Alex does not do camping and prefers the glamping lifestyle! Even in November  temperatures in the Sahara desert can still reach 40 degrees during the day and can fall as low as zero at night, combine this with tough terrain of rolling sand dunes, dried up river beds, throw into the mix the interesting toilet facilities (!) and you can get an understanding that this will be a hard graft  for the father and daughter team.

Thank you for your support, you know Angela would have approved!!!.
