Fun Walk is St Christopher's biggest fundraising event of the year. This year, Lani, Amy, Laura & Joel will be walking 8 miles to raise money.
In May 2023 my mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Throughout the 13 following months, she and we, as a family were supported by St Christophers hospice.
From gathering for family lunches at the hospice when my mum was there for treat days to have her nails painted or mini massages, to home visits, to supporting me liase with the GP when needed, the staff at St Christophers were always just a phone call away.
They provided care and dignity as well as smiles, warmth and hugs when needed.
My mum's wish was to pass away at home with as little intervention as possible, and this she was able to do, surrounded by her loved ones.
I started walking for St Christophers in 2024, a month before losing my mum, and this year I'm joined by my daughters Laura (who walked with me last year), and Amy, and Laura's boyfriend Joel.
Please sponsor us (even £1 - every penny really does count and will be much appreciated) to help provide expert end of life care to people in South London.
With live music, entertainment, street food and vintage shopping you are welcome to come along and join the festival feeling on Keston Common on 10th May 2026!

My knee!
Wednesday 6th May Somehow I've managed to injure my right knee. I'm not sure if I did it dancing, or lifting heavy shopping off the bus (twisting)... it been difficult to walk on and Ive been treating it with Castor oil and turmeric packs trying to reduce the inflammation (which has been a bit of a disaster as I've managed to tye dye my sheets, pillow case, duvet cover AND mattress a distinct shade of (turmeric) yellow! However this means that this walk is going to be quite challenging particularly as we are expecting rain at the end of the week (and possibly Sunday), which means muddy fields to climb! It will certainly be an adventure!
